Crazy Busy!!

Yes...I'm still taking classes, I just haven't posted in awhile....it's been crazy busy here, from work to school and everything in between.  I'm currently working on finishing up my drawing of the plaster cast head for the drawing class.  I'll get something posted when it's completed.  As for the photoshop class, we're currently working on creating a  composite image of one of the Greek Gods/Goddesses....using our own model in costume...it's going to be interesting!

I hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather, this weekend is going to beautiful....George and I are riding the bikes up to Old Forge to drop off one of my paintings...it's a good thing it's small!

In my Photoshop class we'll be working on restoring old photos and creating a panoramic composite of our street.  I finished restoring the photos, hoping to get a jump on my homework, but can't really take the pictures of my street as it's still snowing outside!!  This is April?!?  As soon as the temp warms up and the snow melts a little, I'll be outside snapping shots...I'll post the panoramic when it's done.

Just a quick note...

All of the drawing you see are rendered in charcoal...I'm off to find objects for our next assignment...still life.  Again, it's another two week module...basics first, then the rendering.

A week off....

My school is having their spring break, so the online students get a well-deserved week off as well.  It's been an interesting week with my mother's eye surgery and trying to complete my assignments on time, I managed ....and here's what we've been working on.  For my photoshop class we were given a variety of black and white images...from these we had to remove them from their background and create a portrait composite using our images.  We had both organic and electrical/mechanical type images to choose from.  I tried to stay with the organic theme, but found that there were not a whole lot of images to choose from so I supplemented mine with some of the "gardening" and "dessert" images.  Here's the finished piece in black and white....next module we'll be adding color to them....I've entitled this "Veggie Vanity".....

In my Analysis of Form class, we finished up our two week module drawing the torso from our resin cast.  The first week was spent refinining the proportions and blocking in our basic light and dark values.  The instructor gives us a critique and tells us what needs to be fixed before continuing to the rendering stage...

First Week

The second week is spent rendering our image, the recommended time that we should spend is between 20-30 hours on this stage, it usually ends up being more....needless to say, I'm glad spring break is here!!

My New Blog!

Hi Everyone!  I've never had a blog but I thought it might be time to start one....I've been taking classes so I haven't been able to pursue my pastel paintings.  I thought this would be a great way to share with everyone what I've been doing in my art classes.

Currently, I'm taking two classes Digital Photography/Photoshop and Analysis of Form through the Academy of Art University Online Campus.  It's an excellent school with a tough grading criteria, but I'm really enjoying it.  Here's what we've been doing ...

In my Photoshop class we just finished our modules on selections and color palettes and had to swap heads on a photo of a business meeting...I used my parent's pets and my dog and cat.  Here's the final image...

Next we're creating a composite of a human face from black and white line drawings of mechanical or organic items, should be fun!

In my Analysis of Form class, we've moved on  from drapery to the human torso.  Here is the finished drapery assignment that we had two weeks to complete.  We also have two weeks to complete the torso, which is due next Monday.

I'll try my best to keep up with this blog...at least on a weekly basis...!!
